Craftsmanship & Artistry
SOLEMNIKO is a one-woman business nestled on the border of Dorset. Alexandra’s love of luxury stationery started decades ago as a childhood obsession with notebooks and pots of ink, antiquarian books, rolls of fabric and sheets of thick, multi-coloured card.
Honing a lifetime of drawing became coupled with a fascination in ink pens and the effect of different nibs on different grades of notebook paper, which began as a teenager and stayed. Then came a re-discovery of bookbinding in her early 20’s; and the passions of reading, old books and art found an outlet in the curation of detailed paper items created from scratch by hand.
Notebooks, re-bound second hand books embellished with pyrography illustrations, greeting cards and luxury invitation designs - an obsession with writing found it’s way back to that childhood love of ink pots and different nibs in the art of calligraphy.
Soon afterwards a luxury stationery brand was born.
SOLEMNIKO is all about exploring excellence in handmade goods with sustainable materials and traditional manual craftsmanship practices. It has settled once more - almost full circle - into paper goods and will continue to evolve into all areas of stationery; but this time in handmade pieces created from scratch.
There is luxury in every turn of the page, every letter sent, ever note received, every pen slipped into a cosy case. SOLEMNIKO is a brand that strives for excellence and the promotion of simple daily decadence through handmade stationery created from scratch by one woman whose childhood passions became her business.
