The How We Came To Be Project is 100% not for profit. This means that the stories are put up just to be up there - you don’t have to pay to send in your story and your story won’t be sold to any third parties. Due to the Project being run solely by Alexandra she is also the only one who sees who the stories are from and the email addresses. No one else has access to the database and none of the details are sold or given to anyone else.
Alexandra has been working on this Project since 2020, keeping it open and available because she believes it is necessary to have a space where individuals (especially victims of abuse, rape and conflict) can freely tell their stories without getting the courts involved.
It is a safe space created purely as a sanctuary for anyone who needs to tell their story, but is scared of the consequences of doing so openly. Hence why it is anonymous.
Want to tell your story? Get in touch via this link and Alexandra will get back to you asap. Please be aware the maximum characters for a story are 2000 and any stories by aggressors, perpetrators or voyeurs will NOT be printed. If you send abusive pieces you will be blocked and your email address flagged.
