Ashleigh Airey | Ash Wood Candles
Ash, the founder
of AshWood Candles, has always been deeply passionate about history and archaeology. Since 2012, Ash has explored ancient landscapes and monuments, uncovering how the past shapes the present. When the pandemic halted travel, Ash felt an even stronger connection to the past and found solace in the glow of candles.
Inspired by this, Ash created AshWood Candles, blending a love for archaeology with eco-conscious craftsmanship. Every candle reflects a dedication to sustainability, using clean-burning soy wax and cruelty-free fragrances, while honouring ancient craftsmanship and the preservation of our planet.
Heard it on the show
Standing Stones are stones which - wait for it - are standing.
But of course they didn’t naturally form like that. In the podcast Ash tells me all about them, and something I didn’t know is the theory that they’re not SUPPOSED to be just standing there. Apparently it’s thought that they were moved often and regularly and not built to last. Which blew my mind considering how we enshrine them in modern society.
Anyway part of the reason we were chatting about them was because Ash has an entire candle series inspired by Standing Stone. Which is really cool and they smell SO GOOD!
There is:
Pobull Fhinn // Calanais // Brodgar // Nether Largie
